THE NEXT BIG
THING is a chain of book and author recommendations. Bestselling adventure
novelist Sean Ellis
tagged me. When you're done here, please take the opportunity to
introduce yourself to them, as well as to the five authors I've tagged
below.
1. What is the working title of your next book? THE MENAGERIE
2. Where did the idea come from for the book? This is Book #2 in the Tombs of Eden saga that brings back Alyssa Moore and John Savage,
my two globetrotting heroes who discover the truth about the Extinction Event
that took place over 64 million years ago when the dinosaurs suddenly
disappeared.
3. What genre does your book fall under? Action-Adventure; Thriller.
4. What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition? I would have to say Jason Statham as John Savage and Jessica Alba as Alyssa Moore.
4. What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition? I would have to say Jason Statham as John Savage and Jessica Alba as Alyssa Moore.
5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? What if something other than a meteor
crashed into Earth more than 64 million years ago, the catastrophic event that
wiped out the dinosaurs with a single blow, leaving behind a remnant of that
destructive force deep beneath the Yucatan with the ancient writings of early man
and a menagerie of the universe’s deadliest predators?
6. Will your book be self-published or represented by an
agency? I believe it will be published
through the Hive Collective, hopefully by 2013.
7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of
the manuscript? It’s still in the works.
After the success of The Tombs of Eden, I stopped all other works to
concentrate on this particular piece.
8. What other books would you compare this story to
within your genre? I’d like to say books
written by Andy McDermott, Clive Cussler and James Rollins.
9. Who or what inspired you to write this book? The Tombs of Eden was my first attempt at
writing an action-adventure with an archeological theme, the interest stemming
from books I’ve loved reading in the past, which include works by Michael
Crichton and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. So with the current success of The Tombs
of Eden, I’ve decided to keep the saga going with The Menagerie.
10. What else about the book might pique the reader’s
interest? My stories are never linear
with explosive action. I also love to throw in twists and turns that no one
sees coming, and to flesh out characters so that their insurmountable odds also
becomes the reader’s.
